John Peat Daylily

Iriswarehouse.com now has a "sister" website, Daylilywarehouse.com!  Both websites offer the same wonderful service and quality plants!  At this time, the iriswarehouse.com site is offering both iris and daylily selections.  Orders are now being taken for the 2012 season (taken in 2011, sent and filled beginning May, 2012 for daylilies and July for iris.)  Check it out at:  www.iriswarehouse.com.

The daylilies offered are not your "run of the mill" daylilies that you would see at a nursery.  One such daylily is called, John Peat Daylily.  The plant is a fabulous one!  It has amazing large 6" blooms and the plant is a REBLOOMER!  Further details are:

World of Irises

http://iriswarehouse.blogspot.com/
Iriswarehouse is a proud member of the Historic Iris Preservation Society (HIPS)!
Iris registered more than 30 years ago, qualify to be recorded in the HIPS database. Iriswarehouse.com  has an increasing number of historic iris listed for purchase.
Iriswarehouse is a strong believer in iris preservation. It is a sad reality  that some iris varieties offered in the 70's and 80's are already disappearing from gardens and are in danger of extinction from the sales market!
I think that many historics have amazing fragrance and certainly are sturdy enough to have lasted for years and years. For example, Iriswarehouse.com has the following historic on their sales list:

Shah Jehan Iris
Registered by Hybridizer: Neel, in 1932
Tall Bearded iris with Height: 38"
Midseason-Very Late season bloom

From Longfield Iris Farm catalog for 1936: "Eng. Bronze Medal [1933]. A glorious Iris of rich Oriental coloring. S. buff suffused grey fading to yellow as the flower ages. F. rich plum red with intense reddish brown flush at haft. Margined lavender buff. Very late."

From Cooley's Gardens catalog for 1938: "Said to contain more colors than any other iris in commerce, this serenely beautiful flower in oriental smoky shades almost eludes any attempt to describe it accurately. Standards are creamy buff faintly edged lavender, the falls very rich velvety chestnut merging into purple, thence gradually fading out to a margin that repeats the color of the standards. Beard is a very rich orange. A very late variety, tall, of large size."http://www.iriswarehouse.com/english/monthly.html
